I have had a couple of pleasant brushes with Ernie Dingo. When I interviewed him for a magazine article in the late 1980s we swapped computer games on floppy discs and he taught me the traditional Aboriginal way to catch trout by tickling them… and, in 2003, he wrote the foreword for my travel book on Australia, The Small Guide to a Big Country.
