You’ve probably guessed that my brush with fame today is Mel Gibson. The year was 1980, the year after he starred in the first Mad Max movie and the year before he starred in Gallipoli. There’s a dinner party game called Brush with Fame where you try to outdo the other guests. The rule is simple – it has to be a conversation and that conversation has to be slightly deeper than “Can I have an autograph or a selfie?” My ‘brush’ with Mel was an exchange of a few sentences. Nice brush though!
