Graham Kennedy was Australia’s undisputed King of Comedy. He won six Gold Logies and a Hall of Fame Logie. The current Best Newcomer Logie is named after him and he even named the Logies after the Scottish inventor of television, John Logie Baird. When the Macquarie Dictionary launched in 1981, they had a publicity gimmick that anyone who could name an Australian word not included would receive a posh lunch. Graham claimed the prize because the had not included ‘Logie’.
